Most of the smart identity card holders may perform self-service immigration clearance at e-Channels. Please see e-Channels.
Travellers holding Hong Kong Permanent Identity Cards (PICs) or Hong Kong Identity Cards (HKICs), are not required to furnish any arrival or departure card when they present for immigration clearance at the traditional counters.
Holders of HKPICs issued in Hong Kong or HKICs bearing the asterisk, or 'R' code, who are aged 11 or over, can use their identity cards to travel in and out of Hong Kong without the need to present their travel documents.
However, invalidated or defaced identity cards, or the acknowledgement form of application for an identity card (form no. ROP140 and ROP140A) are not acceptable for travel. Their holders are required to produce valid travel documents at Hong Kong immigration control points.
Children under 11 years old with HKPICs should produce their valid travel documents bearing photographs of the holders. Children included in their parents' travel documents may use those travel documents only when they travel with the principal holder.

Hong Kong residents should check the validity of their Home Visit Permits, in particular those under the age of 18 whose Home Visit Permits are valid for five years from the date of issue. Non-permanent residents must bring along with them their valid smart identity cards and Document of Identity for Visa Purposes or valid travel documents.
Hong Kong SAR passport is for international travel while it is acceptable for travelling to Macau only if the holder is in transit to other countries.

If you are the parent of the data subject who is a minor, or are authorized in writing by the data subject, or appointed by a court to manage the affairs of the data subject, then you can make the application for a statement of travel records for the data subject, together with documentary proof to support it.
You may apply for a statement of travel records of your child who is under 18 years of age. You have to submit photocopies of your child's identification documents and the proof of relationship with your child such as birth certificate. Please also submit one photocopy of the particulars and signature pages of your proof of identity (e.g. travel document). You have to sign on the application form and the signature should be identical with that on the photocopy of the proof of identity submitted.
You may apply for a statement of travel records of a deceased close family member such as parent, spouse or child. You have to state clearly on the application form the reason of applying for the travel records. You also have to submit photocopies of death certificate, identification documents of the deceased and your proof of relationship with the deceased family member. Please also submit a photocopy of the particulars and signature pages of your proof of identity (e.g. travel document). You have to fill in the personal particulars of your deceased family member and sign on the application form yourself. The signature should be identical to that on the photocopy of the proof of identity submitted.
The applicant should provide the data subject’s name in English and Chinese (if applicable), sex, date of birth, identity card number (if any), nationality and travel document(s) number (documents used currently and previously). The statement of travel records will be prepared based on the information furnished by the applicant. If you do not provide sufficient information, we may not be able to process your application or ascertain the related travel records.
It normally takes around 10 working days to process an application for a statement of travel records after receipt of all necessary documents and the fee (working days refer to Monday to Friday, excluding General Holidays). The time of mailing service is excluded from the processing time.
